Artists' Moving Image Network Bulletin - 13 December 2005

Date posted: 13.12.2005

  • 33 x Around the Sun and Sea Change at ICA in December

Two London Artists' Film and Video Awards (LAFVA) funded films will be shown together at the ICA this December. The independent and ambitious debut feature 33 x Around The Sun by John Hardwick (LAFVA 2005) will be accompanied by Joe King and Rosie Pedlow's short film Sea Change (LAFVA 2005). They will be shown every night from 9 - 15 December.

33 x Around The Sun unravels its mythic story in the nocturnal streets of an anonymous city (shot in and around east London). The film is an inspired re-reading of the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice, following H (played by Lars Rudolph) on his protracted journey home.

Accompanying this film, and fresh from its premiere at the recent London Film Festival, is Joe King and Rosie Pedlow's Sea Change. Filmed in a caravan park at the end of the season, Sea Change reveals a landscape dramatically transformed by light and time, and resonating with the transience of human presence.

For further details on the screening and booking information please see the ICA website.

The deadline for this is 6pm on Tuesday 1 March 2006.

For full details of the scheme and guidelines on how to apply visit the Artsadmin website.

  • Wireless Media Call for Entries

This is an invitation to submit work to the San Francisco Film Society for consideration to be included in the 49th San Francisco International Film Festival taking place 20 April - 4 May 2006. In specific, this call is for a program that will focus on a series of visual works made by and/or for wireless media devices and signals.

This breaks down into three categories: works made by mobile devices; works made to be specifically viewed on mobile devices; and works that use wireless signals as a new aesthetic medium.

The question this program will explore is how do these mobile devices enable new methods of production, distribution and/or exhibition.

The submission deadline is 3 January 2006.
