Date posted: 19.12.2005
Three seminars supported by Film London Artists’ Moving Image Network will take place in early 2006 aimed at offering a platform for informative discussion of specific subjects relevant to artists’ moving image practice.
- Investing in Moving Image Work, in collaboration with LCACE and London Art Fair, will take place in January as part of the 18th London Art Fair and will examine issues arising from the sale and purchasing of moving image work. The seminar will be followed by a screening of new work by moving image artists funded through the Film London Artists' Moving Image Network.
Speakers will include: Daria Martin, Anders Peterson - Arttactic, David Gryn - Artprojx, Danielle Arnaud - Danielle Arnaud Contemporary Art, London Art Fair Art Projects Committee and Mike Jones - Technical Director, Film and Video Umbrella.
Artists' Moving Image Network subscribers and constituency can buy two London Art Fair tickets for the price of one if they book before 13 January. The advance ticket price is £10 plus 50p booking fee. - Over 24 and 25 February a series of panel discussions entitled Truth or Dare addressing the relationship between documentary film and contemporary art will take place at the Whitechapel Art Gallery, coordinated by Royal Holloway University of London.
The event will comprise three sessions each structured around a conversation between documentary makers and artists, linked by an interlocutor who will in turn encourage dialogue with the audience. Speakers over the two days will include John Ellis, Michael Renov, Jane and Louise Wilson (UK), Clarisse Hahn (France) and Ann-Sofi Siden (Sweden). - Animation Filmmaking & Computer Tools: Who Rules? takes place on 28 February at the National Film Theatre in conjunction with The British Animation Awards. Focussing on the use of computers within animation based work this panel discussion will address questions such as: Why do animators choose the tools they do? How much does the technology dictate form? How can film-makers break the tyranny of software?
Three very different animation artist film-makers, Gaelle Denis (Fish Never Sleep, City Paradise) Darren Walsh (Angry Kid), Run Wrake (Rabbit) and Kevin O’Brian (Adobe) will discuss their creative and working process, from their earliest student work to recent productions.
