- animate! Book Launch and Screening
On Thursday 14 December at 6pm a combined animate! screening and book launch event will take place at Curzon Soho. The event will present a screening of short-listed works from the new animate! Artist Award as well as the launch of the new animate! book.
The book includes contributions from Ian White, Gareth Evans, Dick Arnall and Angela Kingston, as well as interviews with, amongst others, previous LAFVA awardees AL + AL, Paul Bush, Inger Lise Hansen and Jonathan Hodgson.

- Film in the Digital Age
The UK Film Council, the lead agency for film in the UK, is seeking views on its policy and funding priorities over the next three years in a consultation document published last week entitled Film in the Digital Age.
Film in the Digital Age looks back on the work of the UK Film Council over the past six years. It outlines a number of possible initiatives from April 2007 - March 2010 if extra funding is secured. These initiatives include: 'Experimental' Production Fund; Digital Screen Expansion; Small Capital Fund and UK-wide film archives investment.
The deadline for responses to the consultation is Monday 5 February 2007. Take part in the Film in the Digital Age online questionnaire.
- Reminder: BRITDOCART - Deadline Extension
BRITDOCART has announced Michael Landy and LAFVA 2005 funded Mark Lewis (LAFVA 2005) as the first two artists to receive BRITDOCART funding. There are still two grants to be awarded. The final deadline for entries is 31 December 2006. The selection panel will meet in January 2007 to select two more artists from these entries.
The BRITDOCART fund is aimed at established artists interested in making a short documentary and in its first year will award four grants of up to £30,000 each for documentary films between 3 and 30 minutes long.
Applications must be made online.

- Reminder: Independent Cinema Office (ICO) presents 'Creating a Successful Touring Film Programme'
'Creating a Successful Touring Film Programme' is an essential half-day training course from the ICO run by Catharine Des Forges for exhibitors wishing to tour films including independent cinemas, arts centres as well as established and emerging film festivals.
The session will take place on Wednesday 10 January, 2 - 5pm at Script Factory (66-67 Wells Street, London). It costs £30 + VAT (£35.25) for ICO Clients and £50 + VAT (£58.75) for all others.

- Reminder: Oberhausen – Call for Submissions
Oberhausen, now in its 53rd year, is one of the major international crossroads for the short form, unique in the range of forms and genres it presents to the public, and particularly well known for its spotlight on experimentation.
The festival which will take place 3 – 8 May 2007 is now open for submissions for the 2007 competitions. Deadline for submissions is 15 January 2007 (postmark), and there is no entry fee.

- Reminder: IndieLisboa - Call for Submissions
The 4th IndieLisboa International Independent Film Festival will take place from 19 - 29 April 2007 in Lisbon, Portugal. This festival aims to contribute to the discovery of new authors and new trends in the contemporary independent cinema.
The festival has four main official sections: Observatory (films from independent directors who have more than two films), Laboratory (for more experimental works), Official Competition (for 1st and 2nd films) and IndieJunior (children's film competition).
They are accepting VHS or DVD (PAL) of short and feature films for selection to these official sections.
The deadline for submissions is 16 February, 2007.

- Reminder: Gasworks Presents 'Holiday in' - Call for Proposals
Holiday in is a major travel and exhibitions project proposed by Triangle France, Marseille; Gasworks, London; and the Contemporary Art Centre, Vilnius. Artists from France, Lithuania, and the UK are invited to propose a three-month trip in one of the participating countries other than their own, using the host organisation as a studio base while 'touring' the country. Residencies will culminate in a group exhibition in each art centre.
The deadline for applications is Wednesday 20 December.

- Reminder: Capture5 – Call for Applications
CAPTURE, the national, strategic agency for dance and the moving image announces the launch of Capture5, the fifth round of its screen-based dance production fund. They are looking for applications from a wide variety of artists at all stages of their career through encouraging screen-based dance submissions that span a range of artists' practices including film, video, new media and installation. Awards are made up to £20,000 and proposals are welcomed from emerging and established artists.
The deadline for applications is 31 December at 5pm.
