  • London Artists' Film and Video Awards 2007 – Awardees Announced

    The London Artists' Film and Video Awards (LAFVA) for 2007 have now been announced and this year twelve London-based artists will share a total fund of £160,000 to produce new film and video work.

    This year's awardees, who will each receive up to £20,000 for their proposed projects, are: Anja Kirschner, Pil and Galia Kollectiv, Suki Chan, Anna Lucas, Karen Mirza and Brad Butler, Ben Rivers, Michael Landy, Saskia Olde Wolbers, Marine Hugonnier, Susanna Wallin, Mark Boulos, Michael Curran.

    Now in its seventh year, the London Artists' Film and Video Awards support established, mid-career and emerging artists living and working in the London region.
  • Artists Selected for Advisory Sessions

    Applications have now closed and six artists have been selected to take part in a series of bespoke advisory sessions as part of the Film London Artists' Moving Image Network's latest open application scheme.

    The artists are; Samantha Rebello, Richard Couzins, Max Hattler, Judy Price, Laura Gannon and Susan Pui San Lok.

    Each artist will benefit from a series of one to one sessions which will take place over the next three months.

    A further programme of One to One advisory sessions will be announced in late Spring 2007, details of which will be posted in the Advisory Sessions section of the website.
  • Artists Cinema, Touring UK, March Onwards

    Five internationally celebrated artists including Manon de Boer, Miguel Calderón, Bonnie Camplin, Phil Collins and Apichatpong Weerasethakul have specially produced new short works on 35mm film to tour to cinemas across the UK. Commissioned by LUX and Frieze Projects the films premiered at Frieze Art Fair 2006.

    The Artists Cinema commissions build on the success of last year's aMovie which were seen by more than 27,000 cinemagoers in the UK.

    The Artists Cinema will be touring 25 locations around the country.
  • Company Placement Scheme

    Applications are now open for trainees to the Film London Company Placement Scheme for new entrants into the film and TV industries.

    Film London is supporting seven film and TV companies who will provide six-month paid work placements.

    Film London especially welcomes applications from individuals from under represented groups including: individuals excluded through economic circumstance, women; people of Black or ethnic minority background and people with disabilities.

    Deadline for applications is 13 April.

  • Film and Performing Arts Press Officer

    The Institute of Contemporary Arts (ICA) communications department is looking for an experienced press officer to work full time in its busy office.

  • Reminder: Residency Opportunity – Base Elements

    Allenheads Contemporary Arts (ACA) is accepting proposals for 2 residency opportunities from artists interested in following a line of research into the earth's base elements. The project aims to explore in broad terms, how we comprehend and relate to the matter of our planet.

    Each residency is for a flexible period of up to 3 months taking place between May and December 2007. There is an artists' fee of £1,800 pcm (plus travel, accommodation, studio and production expenses).

    The deadline for applications is 18 April.

  • Reminder: Call for submissions – animate!tv

    animate! seek proposals from UK based artists and animators for risk taking and experimental films for television. They will be commissioning five films, with budgets up to £20,000.

    animate!tv is funded by Arts Council England and Channel 4.

    Deadline for applications is 27 April.

  • And finally...

    Parasol unit foundation for contemporary art is a non-profit initiative established to showcase the work of leading international contemporary artists.

    Their latest exhibition, Momentary Momentum, is devoted to animated drawings, comprising a dozen installations and a film loop with the participation of artists including Paul Bush / Lisa Milroy, Michael Dudok de Wit, Avish Khebrehzadeh, Robin Rhode, Georges Schwizgebel and David Shrigley.

    The exhibition runs until 12 May. There is no charge for admission.
