Fine Art to Film - Focus on Female Film-makers

Date posted: 06.02.2007

On Monday 12 March (6.30pm) the Artist’s Moving Image Network, together with Birds Eye View Film Festival (BEV), presents Fine Art to Film at the ICA.

The panel event will explore the boundaries between fine art and film and includes contributions from groundbreaking artist film-makers, including previous LAFVA awardees Carol Morley ,Clio Barnard and Miranda Pennell.

Is fine art film if it's shown in the cinema? How is a film affected by being shown in a gallery? When is an artist an artist and when is she a film-maker? This event explores the increasingly crossed boundary between fine art and film in a panel discussion with artist film-makers including Carol Morley, Clio Barnard, Miranda Pennell and Laurie Simmons, showing extracts of their work alongside Family History, the Artists' Moving Image Network supported project by Turner Prize winning Gillian Wearing.

The Birds Eye View Film Festival, which this year runs from Thursday 8 to Wednesday 14 March, presents six days of films and events and celebrating and showcasing the very best work from women film-makers.

BEV’s third festival includes a stunning selection of UK premieres of international feature films, short films from the best emerging talent, engaging documentaries, training, masterclasses and Q&As, as well as parties and baby friendly screenings.

For more information on this event visit the BEV festival website. Tickets can be bought directly from the ICA box office on 020 7930 3647.
