Date posted: 06.09.2007

Art Summer University at Tate Modern (Friday 21 to Monday 24 September), will present a programme of cutting-edge video works by international artists, curators and theorists.

The Tate is inviting 18 artists from around the world to come to London to premiere new artwork, discuss their artistic approach and interact with the audience. Through a series of talks, screenings and presentations, this event will give audiences direct access to brand-new international video art fresh from Venice, Documenta, Basel and Münster.

The four day event will feature presentations by specialists who will contextualise the works of several artists as well as individual artists’ talks and intense one-to-one sessions.

On Friday 21 September Graham Gussin’s 2006 LAFVA-funded Spill will be sceening as part of the opening session in Tate’s Starr Auditorium. While on Saturday 22 September Miranda Pennell will present a lecture discussing her practice alongside a selection of works including 2003 LAFVA-funded Fisticuffs.

As well as the screenings and talks, there will be the opportunity to partake in free 30 minute one-to-one sessions with the Art Summer University artists. These will provide a space for participants to show examples of their own work and discuss their direction both creatively and career wise. Participants will be selected on submission of a portfolio.

For the further information and to reserve a place visit the Tate website.

The London Premiere of Miranda Pennell’s 2006 LAFVA-funded Drum Room will take place at BFI Southbank on Wednesday 3 October.

Applications are now open for LAFVA 2008.
