Artprojx Presents Grace Ndiritu
Date posted: 16.12.2008
On Tuesday 20 January 2009 (6.45pm-8pm) Artprojx will present a night of experimental works by Grace Ndiritu at the Prince Charles Cinema.
The event will present a experimental night of art inspired by the ancient culture, contemporary politics, and music of the great continent of Africa. This series uses repeating images in different works to cause a Déjà vu quality, type of psychological shift of one’s conception of linear time. This parallels the themes of genocide and substandard poverty which are juxtaposed with images from the Egyptian and Mesoamerica civilizations and highlights their further connection to Afro Futurism and cultural memory loss.
The screening will feature a selection of Ndirtu’s recent video works including My Blood Self, which will be accompanied by a live soundscape by The Shrine Synchrosystem.
Grace Ndiritu lives and works in London and is a previous participant in the FLAMIN One to One advisory programme. Her recent solo shows include the Chisenhale Gallery, London (2007), the 51st Venice Biennale (2005) and Ikon Gallery, Birmingham (2005).
Tickets are available from the Prince Charles Cinema Box Office, either by telephone, on 0870 811 2559 (between 1.30 pm and 8.30 pm) or in person, from the box office in the cinema foyer.
