Curated by Artprojx in association with The Armory Show and VOLTA NY, Artprojx Cinema presents a free off-site screening programme of artists' film and video. Artprojx Cinema will showcase the work of artists represented by galleries participating in both art fairs alongside a programme of films from leading international and local public arts production organizations and curators.
First shown at the 2010 Whitstable Biennale, Phil Coy's Façade re-transmits some of the flawed utopias and polarised theories suggested by Sergei Eisenstein's unmade film The Glass House into a fantastical vision of contemporary glass architecture far removed from its egalitarian origins. Shot in a green screen television studio the action takes place in the non-spaces it describes conflating archive footage of plate glass manufacture with architectural 'walkthroughs' of never-to-be-built glass buildings.
Elsewhere in the Artprojx Cinema programme, FLAMIN-supported works include Luciano Zubillaga's Music For A Missing Film, which traces the spiritual and material remnants of the lost film El Huerco made in Venezuela in 1964 and Edith Marie Pasquier's Lark of The Border. Other FLAMIN-supported artists featured in the programme include Ben Rivers, Emily Richardson, Mark Leckey, Laure Prouvost and Mark Aerial Waller.
