Bristol Mean Time

The Bristol Mean Time residency is a collaborative project between Film London Artists' Moving Image Network and Picture This.
The residency was designed to give a London-based artist the opportunity to undertake a three month moving image residency based in Bristol, and to develop a new moving image work in a unique supportive and creative environment. The residency programme offers curatorial and technical mentoring and support and accommodation, with access to full production, post-production and exhibition technology, studio and office space at Picture This.
Rachel Reupkewas the recipient of the Film London Artists' Moving Image Network (FLAMIN) and Picture This 2009 Bristol Mean Time residency.
Reupke worked at Picture This' Atelier space in Bristol from July to September 2009. During which time she developed and produced a new work entitled 10 Seconds or Greater, a single screen installation which was subsequently shown at Picture This' exhibition space.
Formally based on the production of royalty-free stock footage, 10 Seconds or Greater maps the logical progression of a director through a check list of popular scenarios designed to illustrate such commercially lucrative concepts as 'communication', 'relaxation' and 'healthy life-style'.
