Ayshe's Tale

Image of Ayshe's Tale by William Raban, City Speaks 2007

Synopsis

Set within the Turkish community of Dalston and Stoke Newington, Ayshe’s Tale celebrates the multi-ethnic diversity of this part of East London.

The film is a visual platform from which the monologues and dialogues of the radio play are expanded. The picture is not a direct illustration of the narrative, rather, it is a “portrait of place” and in this way, the film creates a space from which the story unfolds to maximise the ways in which words, music and image form the construction of meaning. The kinetic rhythm of tracking shots are primary agents to the overall poetic construction.
